The first Eucalyptus meeting, held at NCSU in Raleigh on October 8th with 75 attendees, highlighted the interest of many companies and institutions in investigating the potential to use new Eucalyptus genetic materials (including improved local races and clones) in conjunction with new silvicultural practices for short-rotation biomass production in the SE US. During November and December, the FNC team, in contact with some interested members, established a plan to start the initiative in spring 2010, necessitating a 2nd meeting in the beginning of January in SC.
Participants
The meeting is open to all companies and institutions interested in learning about and discussing potential participation in the initiative. The goals of the discussion are to: 1) Define the trials to be implemented, 2) Define the sites for the trials, and 3) Define the costs and participants in this Special Study.
