| Membership requires a
commitment of resources to maintain the
quantity and quality of work agreed upon by
the membership. All members are expected to
make annual monetary contributions to the
Universities to support the program. The
contribution level is based on the number of
acres owned, leased, or managed (Table 1).
Full members are expected to establish and
maintain regionwide studies as approved by
the advisory council. Full members that do
not use their own personnel for installation
and measurement of FNC trials will be charged
an additional surcharge to cover the cost of
these field trials.

In additional to the annual
contribution, new Full members are required
to contribute an initiation contribution of 2
times their annual contribution rate. Payment
of the initiation contribution can be spread
over the first five years of membership. The
initiation contribution can be paid in cash
and/or by providing an extra research
contribution of equivalent value (e.g.
providing additional support for one of our
special projects). Open access to the FNC's
raw data (individual tree data) is available
to full members after a total contribution to
the program of $60,000.

2006 expenditures. Member contributions
are leveraged with the investment of the
entire program.
